Fishing under Step Two of metro Melbourne’s five step plan

By on September 28th, 2020

Power boat fishing is now permitted under Step Two of metropolitan Melbourne’s  five step plan to open up the state announced to commence 11:59pm Sunday, 27 September 2020. This was clarified in the days after the initial announcement.

It is very important to note that it must be within the person’s 5km zone – so, if a boater lives 2km from the water, they can go no more than a further 3km when on the water. Any trip must take less than two hours, and everyone must continue to adhere to physical distancing of 1.5m. Group limits apply and wearing a face mask is also required. We have also now received clarification from the BIAV that the use of boat ramps and jetties is now permitted.

With regard to boat maintenance,  marine and specialist mechanics are now permitted to operate when required for safe operation including scheduled/logbook inspections.

Plenty of 5klm options
With the current restrictions in mind, this week’s reports on saltguide.com.au not only cover off on all the amazing snapper, cal and whiting action for the Stage 3 folk down Phillip Island and Geelong way but also some rippa land based, kyak and close to shore options for those Stage 4 metro crews lucky enough to be within 5 clicks of the water. This includes a heap of great cala spots, but also gar, pike, salmon and snapper options.

Fishing workshops to get you through lockdown
In the meantime, we’ve got the crews that can’t fish covered ’til the end of lockdown with a rippa new line up of workshops LIVE each week.
